Acting State Police Superintendent Keith Corlett says the results of this year’s Memorial Day weekend campaign show that far too many people are making the wrong decision, and getting behind the wheel while intoxicated or impaired by drugs. Across this area, Troopers issued 909 traffic tickets including charging eight people with driving while intoxicated. Statewide, 225 people were charged with drunk driving.
During the 54-hour STOP-DWI campaign the New York State Police increased patrols and conducted sobriety checkpoints to deter, identify and arrest impaired drivers. Troopers also investigated 134 crashes involving personal injury.
