Steuben County is joining a class action law suit against the manufacturers and abusive prescribers of opioids. At least 9 counties in New York have agreed to sue those they feel contribute to the opioid crisis in New York. 16 county residents died from opioid overdoses in 2016. This year’s number of fatalities has increased. Other counties that have joined the lawsuit include Broome, Putnam, Dutchess, Rockland, Ulster, Nassau, Suffolk, Erie, and Orange counties. Several counties outside New York are also participating.
