APALACHIN – New York State Police have charged a 36-year-old Apalachin man with murder following a fatal domestic incident that occurred last week.
Michael Crandall was charged with one count of murder in the second degree and three counts of criminal contempt in the second degree. He was arraigned in Tioga County Court on Friday.
On Monday, Feb. 19, New York State Police were called to investigate a domestic dispute in Apalachin where a female died from her injuries and a male had been hospitalized.
According to state police, troopers responded to a residence on Debra Lee Drive in Apalachin at approximately 3:57 a.m. on Monday. Police and EMS personnel provided life-saving treatment to an injured male and female at the scene.
The female victim died as a result of injuries sustained during the incident.
The injured male was transported to Wilson Hospital in Johnson City.
State police thanked “all involved community partners for their assistance and request patience while this matter is being investigated. Additional information will be made available in the near future.”
Crandall was arrested following his release from the hospital.
The incident remains under active investigation and further details will be released as appropriate pending further criminal court actions.
