The son of the former Cayuga County Sheriff’s Deputy shot and killed this weekend is now being held in connection with the murder.
Authorities say Michael Gallow, 28, shot his father in his Scipio home on Sherwood Road a little before 11:30 p.m. Saturday.
Investigators haven’t revealed a motive.
Gallow was arraigned on a second-degree murder charge Sunday.
He was assigned counsel and remanded without bail.
His father, Bernard Gallow, 58, retired from the Sheriff’s Department two years ago after spending two decades on the job.
Gallow had been a sheriff’s deputy, a volunteer firefighter, a court security officer and a Moravia village policeman.
The Cayuga County District Attorney says the case against Michael Gallow will now go to a grand jury.
He says that could happen as early as this week.
