Tompkins County Sheriff Deputies have charged 30-year-old Jessica Griffith of Lansing with felony Leaving the Scene of a fatal incident without reporting.
The arrest stems from an investigation that began on Saturday after the Tompkins County 911 Center received a report of an unresponsive male lying in the roadway on Eastshore Drive.
Griffith was the operator of a 2002 Dodge Caravan that was traveling north on Eastshore Drive. 38-year-old Rick Shauger was the only other occupant of the vehicle. Shauger exited the vehicle while it was moving, and was killed.
Griffith was arraigned in the Town of Lansing Court and released on her own recognizance. She is scheduled to appear in the Town of Lansing Court on Monday for a preliminary hearing.
