With the 4th of July in the rearview mirror, what’s next on the summer event calendar for the Southern Tier? Tioga County Fair is coming up … Monday, August 5 to Saturday, August 10 at Marvin Park on Main Street in Owego. New this year is the Painted Pony Championship Rodeo on Tuesday, August 6. It’s a professionally sanctioned rodeo event … the only one in a 10-county area. $10 for daily admission, includes unlimited rides, shows, attractions and parking. Rides and midway by Gillette Shows.
Broome County Fair is later this month … Tuesday, July 24 through Sunday, July 28 at the fairgrounds in Whitney Point … tractor pulls, carnival rides, food, vendors, contests, livestock auctions and a demolition derby on Wednesday, July 25 at 7pm. Spiedie Fest and Balloon Rally is the first weekend in August … Friday, Saturday and Sunday, August 2, 3 and 4 at Otsiningo Park in the Town of Dickinson. A marinated meat sandwich is the main attraction, but you’ll find other food, as well as rides, live music on stage and hot-air balloon launches each day.
New York State Fair is Wednesday, August 21 to Labor Day, Monday, September 2 at the fairgrounds north of Syracuse. Organizers like to boost that the fair draws over one-million people during its 13-day celebration of food, vendors, displays, free concerts as well as the popular butter and sand sculptures. Some of the Chevy Court free concerts are Blood, Sweat and Tears, Bad Company, Herman’s Hermits, lovelytheband and Bad Company.
