A woman has died in a motorcycle crash. It happened in the town of Walton on Sunday afternoon.
Deputies say the motorcycle attempted to illegally pass a tractor heading north in a no-passing zone on State Highway 206. According to the sheriff’s office, the tractor started to make a left turn, which caused the motorcycle to crash into the tractor’s front-end loader as it passed.The motorcycle’s driver and passenger were thrown from the bike, according to authorities. Deputies say the passenger, 67-year old Nancy Cushman, died at the scene.
The motorcycle’s driver, 70-year old James Cushman, was airlifted to UHS Wilson Hospital in Johnson City from Delaware Valley Hospital in Walton with serious injuries.The Delaware County Sheriff’s Office and New York State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit are investigating the crash.
