An 81-year-old LeRoy woman is okay after she was rescued from her car just before it was smashed by a freight train.
State Police in Bath say Angeline Pascucci was disoriented and driving on the railroad tracks in West Cameron, Steuben County, on Monday evening.
Bystander Laurie Eldridge says she heard a train coming and ran to the car when it got stuck.
Pascucci refused to leave the car, so Eldridge says she dragged her out and away from the tracks just before a Norfolk Southern train broadsided the car at around 40 mph.
Police say Pascucci was checked out at Corning Hospital but was uninjured.
There are no charges pending.
