One firefighter was injured during a large brush fire in Tompkins County on Friday night.

Eight to ten acres of land between the 1300 block of East Shore Drive and the 900 block of Cayuga Heights Road in the Town of Lansing were affected by the fire, which broke out just before 7:30 pm on Friday.

The fire started as separate fires that were fanned by windy and dry conditions.

Firefighters from across Tompkins County and neighboring counties battled the blaze for more than four hours. Fire officials said it was mostly under control by 11:30 pm.

One firefighter was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Two others were treated at the scene.

No homes were impacted by the fire.

The fire is being investigated by the New York State Police.
