A Cornell student was murdered over the holiday weekend in the apartment she shared with her boyfriend. According to the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office, Benjamin Cayea was charged with the second-degree murder of Cornell student Shannon Jones. He was also charged with terrorism. According to police, Ca-yea strangled his girlfriend during a heated argument. Investigators say Ca-yea then drove to a friend’s home in a neighboring town and did not call 911. He was arrested by the Cayuga Heights Police Department. There is no bail set. A community support meeting for students will be held on today at Cornell’s campus.
