Ithaca police got a call to check on a trespassing complaint and ended up arresting the complaint on drug charges. Here’s what happened: On June 20 at approximately 7:15 a.m., Ithaca police responded to 224 Cliff St., Ithaca, to investigate a reported trespassing. Upon arrival, the compliant reported he was threatened with a handgun. Police obtained a search warrant for the residence and found a substantial amount of cocaine, packaging materials, a digital scale, a blender with narcotic residue and substances commonly used as cutting agents.
Charles E. Richards, 50, of 224 Cliff St., was arrested and charged with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, Class B felonies. Richards was arraigned in Ithaca City Court and remanded to Tompkins County jail without bail.
