Ithaca Police continue Probe into Four Lime Bikes Fires

Ithaca police responded to reports of Lime Bakes on fire at three different locations in 45 minutes early Monday. Lime Bikes are rental bikes available at various location throughout the city.


Ithaca police report: On September 18 at approximately 2:24 A.M., police and the Ithaca Fire
Department responded to the area of North Cayuga and Cascadilla Street for a report of two (2) Lime Bikes on fire. Upon officer’s arrival, the fire was extinguished without incident and no further property damage was observed.


At approximately 2:26 A.M., while police were checking the area, another Lime Bike was located on fire in the 400 block of North Geneva Street. The fire was extinguished without incident and no further
property damage was observed.


At approximately 2:57 A.M., while still checking the area, pfficers located a fourth Lime Bike on fire in the 400 block of North Albany Street. The fire was extinguished without incident and no further property damage was observed.


The investigation into these incidents continues. The Ithaca Police Department is asking any witnesses,
or anyone with information regarding the possible identities of the subject (s) involved, or any residents who may have video of the incidents to contact the Ithaca Police Department.
