The roof of the Chapter House in Ithaca has collapsed amid heavy flames. City fire crews and firefighters from many nearby communities are on the scene of a fire at the Chapter House and the three-story apartment house next door. The fire began around 4 a.m., possibly between the Chapter House and the apartment building at 406 Stewart Ave. The apartment building was evacuated. No injuries have been reported, and everyone has been accounted for. Another nearby apartment, at 408 Stewart Ave., was also evacuated and was being cleared for smoke. Stewart Avenue is closed between State Street and Campus Road.
