Man Threatens Ithaca Lowe’s Employee with Hatchet

A hatchet-wielding homeless man has been arrested for robbing the Ithaca Lowes Store located on Fairgrounds Memorial Parkway. 31-year-old Zachary Burlingame was charged with first-degree robbery and second-degree menacing. A store worker told Ithaca police that the suspect stole several items, including chainsaws. When the employee approached the suspect, the suspect allegedly threatened the
employee with a hatchet. After a search, Burlingame was found and police recovered about $1,300 in stolen property. He’s in the Tompkins County jail and
will return to court Monday.
