Two Broome County residents have been arrested after a purse was stolen from a shopping cart at a supermarket in the Town of Cortlandville.
New York State Police arrested Matthew C. Mason, age 29 of Deposit, for two counts of felony Grand Larceny in the fourth degree and Tammy L. Moore, age 44 of Binghamton, for Identity Theft in the third degree.
On September 20, state troopers from the barracks at Homer learned that a victim’s purse was taken at TOPS supermarket in the Town of Cortlandville. The victim later reported that her credit card was used in Binghamton. An investigation revealed the purse was taken by Mason and the credit card was used by Moore at several locations in Cortlandville and Binghamton.
On February 6, troopers arrested Moore; she was processed and released on appearance tickets that were returned to the Town of Cortlandville Court on February 11.
An arrest warrant was issued for Mason after an investigator learned Mason was incarcerated at Willard Drug Treatment Campus. He was arrested, transported and arraigned at the Town of Cortlandville Court on April 1.
