Broome County STOP-DWI Program is accepting applications from area high school boys basketball teams to compete in the Regional Divisions of the 2011 STOP-DWI Holiday Classic scheduled for December 28-30 at the Broome County Arena.
This year’s tournament marks the 20th Anniversary of the STOP-DWI Holiday Classic – now recognized as one of the top holiday high school boys basketball tournaments in the United States.
The tournament is held to encourage high school athletes to become leaders in the effort to prevent underage drinking and teenage drunk driving and promote healthy lifestyles.
The STOP-DWI Holiday Classic is a sixteen team tournament comprised of one eight team national division and two four team regional divisions.
The tournament’s national division features some of the top high school boys basketball teams from across the nation. The 2011 National Division teams will be announced in April.
Area high schools that want to compete in the Regional Division of the 2011 STOP-DWI Holiday Classic are encouraged to apply for selection.
