Jim Raftis Sr. is being honored tonight at the Owego Treadway in and will be receiving the Tioga County Distinguished Citizen Award. Raftis is a lifelong resident of Owego whose name is synonymous with Little League where he serves as the Public Relations Director. In fact his grandfather Nick Raftis developed the first Owego Little League Baseball Field. Jim Raftis Sr also originated the Roll Call of Veterans who are buried in Tioga County, he mentors OFA students and has been a volunteer broadcaster for 35 years, 30 of which were on WEBO. Raftis spoke on the significance on the award for volunteerism.

The event begins tonight at 6 PM and the award is given on behalf of the Baden-Powell Council Boy Scouts of America.
