A house in the 800 block of Broadway in Southport was cordoned off with yellow police tape and motorists were being asked to slow down as they pass through the area Wednesday morning. Chemung County Sheriff deputies and New York State Police were on the scene of what they believed was a meth lab. Southport firefighters were also on stand-by and one state trooper was using fallen tree branches to prop open a storm window at the home, enabling air to flow in. other details, including who owns the home or if anyone was removed from the residence, were not released.
