Drug Arrest Made Following Traffic Stop

Broome County investigators arrested a man on Monday afternoon after a routine traffic stop on Binghamton’s east side when they found he had drugs, weapons and thousands of dollars in cash.
Police say 25-year old Diondre Smith allowed officers to search him and his vehicle. They discovered three grams of crack cocaine, 10 grams of powder cocaine, three loaded hand guns, extra ammunition and over $5,000 cash.
They said Smith admitted to being a Crips gang member.
He was arraigned in Binghamton Court and sent to the Broome County lock-up. A passenger in the vehicle, 22-year old Tyrek McCarden was found to have 14 baggies of marijuana. He was issued a court appearance ticket and released.
