A Binghamton woman has been sentenced to probation and ordered to pay thousands of dollars after admitting to filing false tax returns.
Jacqueline MacBlane was sentenced Wednesday in U.S. Federal Court in Binghamton. She will have to serve two years of probation and complete 100 hours of community service. She will also have to pay $70,000 restitution as well as a thousands more for as a fine.
The U.S. Department of Justice said MacBlane admitted to intentionally filing false tax returns. Her husband owned two bars, including the Brackley Inn in Susquehanna County, PA and Charley’s Tavern in Broome County.
In 2006 and 2007, MacBlane and her husband filed their taxes individually but the status on their taxes was “married filed jointly”. As a result, over $115,000 in 2006 and over $150,000 in 2007 was not reported.
