The first official hat in the ring to become the new Tioga County District Attorney will announce his candidacy tonight. Owego-based attorney Kirk Martin will formally enter the race at 5:30 at the Owego Treadway Inn. Friends, family and supporters are expected to join Martin for the announcement. The DA’s seat is up for election after former D.A. Gerald Keene was elected as Tioga County Judge. Assistant District Attorney Irene Graven has been filling the post since Keene took over as judge in January. It’s not certain whether she will also be mounting a bid to be elected District Attorney.
