Binghamton University has received a record-high amount of applications for the Fall 2013 semester. 29,089 freshman applications were received by the school, surpassing the previous record high of 28,963 set in 2009. The number is almost 1,000 more applications than BU received in for Fall of 2012 admission. Graduate study applications also reached new highs, with 3,402 applications for the fall, a 66 percent increase over last year. With the increasing number of students likely arriving at the school, the university expects to increase the number of faculty by nearly 60 positions. The School of Management at Binghamton saw the most significant surge in applications, with over 4,200 freshmen seeking admission. That number is up 15 percent from last year.
