The Tioga County Chamber of Commerce teamed with the Red Cross today to educate businesses on being prepared for future emergencies. “Every Business Should Have a Plan” was the topic of this morning’s Chamber breakfast. The American Red Cross gave out information and tools that will help businesses in the county put a plan in place. One tip the Red Cross suggested was for businesses to not only have all emergency numbers programmed into cell phones, but also to have them written down in a safe place for easy access. Another suggestion was for businesses to have emergency disaster kits ready, with items such as light sticks, ponchos, hand warmers, water, first aid kits, and other materials which could help in the event of an emergency. The Flood of 2011 helped spark the Chamber to understand and realize the importance of emergency preparation.
