The empty Greenman Senior Center in Binghamton could be bought and re-purposed. The building has been vacant since the heating and cooling system collapsed in the Fall of 2011. On Monday, the City Council passed a resolution to sell the building to “Opportunities for Broome”, which plans to turn it into a commercial kitchen training center. Those in favor of the change say the deal would save taxpayers and the city money, while creating jobs. The approval of any sale needs a super majority vote from legislation to pass. That vote will take place on April 3rd.
