The Endicott Bomb Squad responded to Main Street in Sherburne Thursday evening for a call of a suspicious object. According to the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office, around 7:30 p.m. deputies and the Sherburne Police Department received a report of a suspicious pipe on the sidewalk in front of a commercial/residential building near the intersection of North Main Street and West State Street. People were evacuated and the area was blocked off as the Endicott Bomb Squad was called in. Deputies said they determined the pipe was not a threat. The Sherburne Fire Department assisted at the scene. North Main Street was reopened around 12:15 a.m. Friday.
