Voters in Vestal Tuesday turned down their fire department’s request for a new apparatus by fewer than 10 votes. Tuesday’s special election drew just 371 residents to the polls. At issue was whether the town could spend $800,000 on a new heavy rescue vehicle for the Vestal Fire Department. The final tally Tuesday was 182 for, and 189 against, according to the Town Clerk.
