The suspect in a police chase in Ithaca is now being held without bail after his arraignment Thursday night. 53-year-old David Manzi, has been accused of stealing a car from the Hess Gas Station on Elmira Road in Ithaca just after noon Thursday. He fled when officers tried pulling him over, speeding, and at times, driving the wrong way on a one way street. The chase ended when Manzi hit an unmarked police vehicle, injuring three officers inside. He later took off on foot, but police quickly caught up with him. The three injured officers were treated for neck and back pain and have since been released from the hospital. Manzi, who lives in Syracuse, has been charged with grand larceny and reckless endangerment. Additional charges are expected to be filed.
