The man convicted of shooting an Ithaca police officer last fall has been arrested again, this time, while in jail. 23-year-old Jamel Booker, was convicted of seven counts earlier this month in the shooting of Officer Anthony Augustine. The jury could not reach a decision on an eighth charge of attempted murder. Now, Booker has been charged with second degree assault for an alleged altercation inside the county jail. The sheriff’s office says a corrections officer was hurt, but specifics have not been released. The alleged altercation happened just one day after Booker’s trial ended.
