Police were called to Elmira’s east side on Tuesday after a body was found along Newtown Creek.
Around 11 o’clock Tuesday morning, a DEC crew found a woman’s body along the creek between East Fifth Street and Linden Place. The body has been taken to the Monroe County Medical Examiner’s office for an autopsy. Residents of the neighborhood say they saw a woman walking along the creek for several days.
A few neighbors reportedly talked to the woman and said she appeared despondent. Elmira Police are asking anyone with information to call the Detective Bureau at 737-5610.
