Police have released more information about the South Waverly standoff that started Monday night and ended yesterday morning. 62-year-old Timothy Murphy has been taken into custody by Pennsylvania State Police. The incident began when Murphy picked up his son from track practice on Monday night. According to his son, once they returned to their house at 44 Williams Street, Murphy took out a 357 Magnum handgun, told his son to “sit down”, and pulled back the gun’s hammer. The son was able to escape the house, and then called a friend. Police arrived at Murphy’s home, where he threatened to kill them if they enter the house. After a standoff that lasted many hours, police were able to take Murphy into custody. He has been arraigned on multiple charges, including aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of a child.
