Governor Cuomo has announced that $760 million will be available in funding and tax credits for the third year of his economic development program. The money is part of Cuomo’s regional program that employs 10 councils to help target investment across the state. The Southern Tier Economic Development Council has been awarded $140.5 million for 120 different projects in the past two years. $7 million of that money is going to help the Binghamton Small Business Incubator which is now under construction. Officials say these investments have the ability to create jobs in the Southern Tier, believing that 300 additional jobs could be created in the area in the next 3 to 6 years with the help of investment money for small businesses.
