The Food Bank of the Southern Tier received thousands of dollars for additional funding. The Food Bank was one of 40 winners in Walmart’s Fighting Hunger Together Initiative. Winners each received a $45,000 grant. A total of 120 food banks across the country competed. People were able to vote once per day on Facebook for their local food bank. The Southern Tier Food Bank was able to receive enough votes to reach the 40th and final spot on the list. It was the only food bank in New York state to receive the grant.
