Candon Westervelt received an overwhelming show of support for his homecoming on Friday. Candon is the 9-year-old boy from Lockwood who underwent brain surgery late last month at John’s Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. The procedure, a hemispherectomy, removed the entire right side of the brain and was the only option left to stop the daily siezures Candon had been suffering for over two years. He came home Friday, and was 23 days seizure free. His recovery continues at home now where Candon will continue therapy to regain strength on the left side of his body. Candon is a 4th grader at the Elm Street Elementary School in Waverly.
