Several homes and businesses across the Southern Tier lost power during yesterday afternoon’s thunderstorms. Tioga County was hit the hardest in the Southern Tier, with just under 2,000 outages reported, mostly in Spencer, Barton, and Candor. There were 693 outages in Chemung County, mostly in Van Etten, 515 outages in Broome County, mostly in the towns of Barker and Chenango, as well as outages in the Greene and Danby areas of Chenango and Tompkins Counties. Those outages were quickly repaired by NYSEG yesterday afternoon.
