On Thursday, Binghamton Police Detectives arrested 20-year-old Jose Mendoza, of Binghamton, for allegedly beating his 4-year-old son. The young boy sustained bruising and swelling to the facial area, according to police. Mendoza was charged with one count of assault in the second degree, a class D felony. He was arraigned in Binghamton City Court and remanded to the Broome County Jail. Broome County Child Protective Services is assisting in the investigation.
