The Village of Endicott could be looking at dissolving its police department. The topic was on the agenda of Tuesday night’s village board meeting. A resolution is being reviewed to start negotiations to merge the police department with the Broome County Sheriff’s office. If the bill passes, Broome County would send a proposed contract for the Village Board to review. According to the resolution, the Sheriff’s department would keep the number of officers on the street at 28. The resolution is non-binding and does not impact the current operations of the Endicott Police Department.
