A Broome County teen has been arrested for allegedly stealing a truck and crashing it in the Town of Binghamton back in March. 18-year-old Xavier Montanez was taken into custody Tuesday morning in the Town of Dickinson. According to the Broome County Sheriff’s Office, he is accused of stealing a 2002 Chevy Pickup truck on March 3rd from a home on Pierce Street. He was later involved in a crash on Powers Road, where a house was struck, and he fled the scene. Montanez is being charged with grand larceny, as well as leaving the scene of an accident, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, unsafe lane change, and speed not reasonable for condition. He was released, pending further court action.
