After two-and-a-half years of alleged abuse, a Northern Pennsylvania couple is now facing charges for keeping a young girl locked in a make-shift cage.
Pennsylvania State Police say 49-year-old Mary Beth Frankenfield, and 55-year-old Richard Frankenfield, kept a 12-year-old girl with cerebral palsy locked in a crib that had plywood nailed to the top of it. Investigators say this happened for long periods of time at their home in Albany Township. The Frankenfields are also accused of locking the victim in her four foot wide bedroom closet every night with a crib mattress and toys. The alleged abuse began back in December 2010 when the child was 10-years-old. Investigators say the suspects claimed they were protecting the child from getting into things. The Frankenfields have been charged with false imprisonment and endangering the welfare of a child and are being held at the Bradford County Jail on $85,000 bail.
