The Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena is set to undergo its first large scale renovation in more than a decade. When the $2.5 million dollar project is completed, everything from seating and lights to the hockey boards, glass and outside marquee will be replaced, updating the look and making the facility more energy efficient, according to county officials. The seating and lights are original from when the arena was first opened in 1973. The most recent renovations came with a million dollar exterior facelift in 1999 and a $1.5 million upgrade in 2002.
