A motorcyclist from Chenango Forks is being charged with unlawful fleeing of a police officer. In the evening of July 6th, deputies reportedly observed a motorcycle fail to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of State Highway 12 and County Road 2 in Greene, and then the motorcycle failed to pull over for officers. 36-year-old James Peart continued southbound at speed over 80 miles per hour according to the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office. With assitance from the Broome County Sheriff’s Office, Peart was located in Chenango Forks and arrested by the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office. He was arraigned in the Town of Coventry Court and sent to the Chenango County Jail on $20,000 bail. Peart also faces a wide range of traffic violations related to the incident.
