A tractor trailer rollover in Kirkwood dumped garbage into the median. According to the Broome County Sheriff Department, the accident happened just before 7:30 Sunday night. The driver was traveling from New York City on State Route 17W, carrying garbage. Police said the driver decided to head to a rest stop on Upper Court Street in Kirkwood when the truck started swerving and tipped. No one was injured. As of now, police believe it was a mechanical issue, but are still investigating. Five Mile Point Fire Company and New York State Department of Transportation assisted at the scene. Police said the cleanup took several hours, and parts of the highway had to be temporarily shut down.
