A Sayre man is facing drug charges after he was pulled over for driving recklessly in Binghamton. 23-year-old Dustin Onofre of Pleasant Street in Sayre was swerving his BMW across multiple lanes on Route 17 in Binghamton, before he struck a concrete barrier and was located and stopped on Front Street in Dickinson. He appeared to be under the influence of an unknown narcotic, and upon a search of the vehicle, deputies found 24 individual packets of heroin and a small amount of marijuana. Onofre was charged with felony criminal possession of a controlled substance, along with misdemeanors for driving while ability impaired by drugs and reckless driving, and a violation for marijuana possession. He was arraigned in the Town of Dickinson Court and sent to the Broome County Jail to await further court action.
