A brother and sister have been arrested after the sister was found hiding her brother in her Conklin home when he was wanted by police. New York State Parole held an active felony parole warrant for grand larceny for 35-year-old Raymond Copp of Johnson City. The Broome County Sheriff’s Office and the parole office received a tip that Copp was at his sister’s house on Stillwater Road in Conklin. When police arrived at the home of 24-year-old Lynette Copp, nobody answered the door, but officers could hear people inside and could see young children sleeping.
Police entered the home, and found Raymond hiding under a bed. They said he would not obey police commands and resisted arrest, and a taser had to be used to get him out from under the bed. He was sent to the Broome County Jail for the parole warrant, along with an additional misdemeanor charge for resisting arrest. Lynette will have to return to the Town of Conklin court at a later date. She is facing charges of endangering the welfare of a child, obstructing governmental administration, and hindering prosecution, all misdemeanors.
