While the National Weather Service is yet to issue a flood watch for today, after heavy rain last night and this morning, they are monitoring conditions. In the Ithaca area, fire crews were out most of the night answering calls for blooded basements and washed out roads. Many roads are still blocked by debris. According to the weather service, significant flash flooding took place in Cortland County, swamping many vehicles. A bridge in Enfield in Tompkins County near Harvey Hill Road was also washed out. The precipitation is expected to continue today until about 3 o’clock this afternoon in Ithaca and 5 o’clock in Binghamton. Drier weather is expected for the weekend.
