Johnson City Police have arrested a man they say broke into an apartment and strangled the resident of the home. The incident all began when 26-year-old Jamell Jones of Johnson City was bit in the leg by a dog around 7:30 Thursday evening on Harrison Street. Jones attempted to retaliate and attacked the dog, at which point the dog’s owner tried to stop Jones, but Jones struck him in the face several times. Another man tried to intervene, but then ran back into his apartment. Jones then chased the man inside and strangled him until he became unconscious. Officials have now charged Jones with burglary and strangulation, both felonies. He was sent to the Broome County Jail without bail.
