President Barack Obama spent Thursday traveling across Upstate New York, speaking in Buffalo, having lunch in Rochester with college students, and even making an unexpected stop in Seneca Falls. On the agenda for today: a town-hall discussion at Binghamton University. The visit to BU will focus mostly on the affordability of tuition for college students. Obama said one of the reasons he visited upstate New York, his longest trip to upstate since becoming President, is the large amount of higher education institutions in the region. The President has been outlining plans that give more accountability to colleges and decrease the burden for payment for graduates. According to White House numbers, New Yorkers leave college with an average of $26,000 of debt. During his travels Thursday, Obama stopped at the Women’s Rights National Historic Park Visitor’s Center in Seneca Falls, and was expected to stay overnight in Auburn, after making a stop at Henninger High School in Syracuse to give a speech last night.
