The new budget proposal for the Town of Vestal calls for spending and tax rate increases and no layoffs. The plan calls for a tax rate increase of about 3 percent, and the spending in the budget, currently set at $16.5 million, would be an increase of about 2 percent. To try to minimize the financial burden, Vestal would be using $200,000 of the town’s unreserved fund balance next year, leaving $2.6 million in the account.
