Binghamton University was among the many sites across the Southern Tier where Veterans Day celebrations took place Monday. BU held its annual ceremony, which featured a student rendition of the National Anthem as the New York State Police in Binghamton and the university ROTC conducted a flag raising. The University also held a Veterans Day discussion panel and luncheon. Elsewhere in the Southern Tier, people gathered outside the Tioga County Veterans Memorial by the County Courthouse in Owego at eleven o’clock as they paid tribute to veterans and fallen soldiers. The service also included a 30-second siren in salute, along with the Posting of the Colors by the Veterans Honor Guard. At two o’clock, the Broome County Veterans Day Parade kicked off at the American Legion Post 80 on Main Street in Binghamton. And at seven o’clock the Endicott Veterans Day Parade on the Avenue began, which ran from North Street to Washington Avenue.
