Changes will be made to the New York State Sex Offender Registry to help make offenders more recognizable to both the public and law enforcement. Governor Andrew Cuomo announced on Monday that the registry will begin displaying multiple images of convicted offenders. The images will be added as they become available, and there’s no timetable for when the registry will be fully updated with the additional photos. Before the announced updates, only one photo was required. Offenders are split into three levels based on their risk to the public. Level 1 and 2 offenders are currently required to update their photo once every three years, and Level 3 offenders must update their photo annually.
