Members of the Community Hunger Outreach Warehouse, or CHOW, say there is a 7.8 million pound need for food in the Southern Tier this holiday season. Currently sources are only receiving 3.1 million pounds, after the Thanksgiving weekend depleted many local food pantries resources. The area’s 30 food pantries and 30 soup kitchens are asking for emergency food assistance. Donations can be made by dropping off food at the CHOW warehouse or at the blue CHOW donation bins at grocery stores or office buildings.
